Sopot A book for writing

„At the very entrance to Sopot’s pier, on the left-hand side, there is a small pavilion. It used to house a cafe. Nowadays, the sign over the entrance reads: Marine Station of the Hydro-engineering Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences […]. Not so long ago, a tempting prospect presented itself to the institute. The academy requested that it start making plans for expansion on a European scale. It was given permission to take over and adapt the buildings of a former German casino – over 35,000 cubic feet of space. […] In that tiny building down beside Sopot Pier, research is conducted into issues of vital concern for all Poland, but in a very narrow field. Its sole eye looks out to the north, seaward”.
